Simple, functional, good tasting Mexican type cuisine establishment. The place is not the cleanest, but far from unattractive. Has a nice atmosphere all around. Chips and salsa were good, as the chips were warm and the salsa flavorful. I ordered the El Gobernador Burrito. It was very good. The green sauce was tasty, but not spicy enough for my taste. The portion was rather small for me too, but it is a decent sized burrito for normal people. I just happen to like Mexican food, Jumbo Size! Our server was nice, very attentive, and very fun. Been here a dozen times or so and they have never gotten my order wrong.

Nice atmosphere, great food, great portions and amazing prices. I had the shrimp fajitas- amazing. My husband had the smothered chicken and steak fajitas ( see image)- and he could not finish it!

I wish Terre Haute had a better Mexican restaurant than this. Unfortunately this is the best Terre Haute has to offer. The service is great and I have no complaints. The food is mediocre and the margaritas are fair. if you find a good Mexican place send me a message

Not bad for Terre Haute, but in no way authentic. Service can be slow and it can get really busy. The chips & salsa are good, but the food is just okay. Its best selling point is the colorful decorations and fun atmosphere - they're really good about serving large groups of people, which makes it good for college students.

As good as Mexican foes gets in Terre Haute. The food was fresh, the guacamole and chips were good and so was the service.

As good as it gets in Terre Haute. The chips and salsa are great, but depending on who is making the salsa it can be different from day to day. I recommend the enchiladas verdes (beef, chicken and cheese are all good). The sauce is absolutely wonderful and has a generous amount of cilantro in it. The real hacienda fajitas are also great. It is a supreme style fajita that has steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo and is topped with a huge piece of skirt steak. The service is always amazing and although there are multiple locations I am partial to the one on Wabash.

The service here is remarkably quick. 'Complimentary' chips and salsa are at your table within a couple of minutes of being seated. The chips and salsa seemed fresh and have tasted pretty good whenever I have come here. The waiters are generally polite and keep an eye out for anything you may need. Walking into this place actually makes you feel like you're in for a very authentic experience. The decor, the music, the Hispanic waiters and the fact that the TVs are tuned to ESPN Deportes all come together to add a unique Mexican touch. Unfortunately, the biggest let down is the food. The food is occasionally laden with grease and contains copious amounts of cheese and/or sauce that seems to have come directly out of a tin/bottle. With that being said, overall, the food is not terrible. I obviously gave this place four stars for a reason. I think that this is still the go to place for Mexican food in Terre Haute. The entrees here are only slightly above average at best. However, the feeling you have after you consume the food and all the other aforementioned unique touches make this the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Terre Haute.

This is hands down the best Mexican place in Terre Haute. I don't understand some of the bad reviews. I usually make it a point to have lunch here once every couple weeks. When I go any longer than 2 weeks without it, I start having withdraws. ITS THAT GOOD! They have come a long way since they first opened. You can tell they are doing well and get good business because they have done a lot of remodeling since they first opened. The parking lot is usually packed from 12-1pm on the weekdays. When you first sit down, warm chips and fresh salsa are brought to your table for you to enjoy while you look over the menu. My sister always gets a side of their cheese sauce. Its the BEST cheese sauce! I don't know where this white cheese comes from, but I really dont care. Its Delicious!! Their service is ridiculously fast and the meals are cheap! I get an hour lunch break and I always have 30 min left by the time im done eating to relax and chat with my lunch partner that day. Most meals are around $6-$7 and endless chips & salsa are sure to leave you satisfied no matter what kind of appetite you have for the day. For Lunch I would recommend the Chicken Chimichanga, Reynaldos Burrito (sp?), or any of the Quesadillas. Their rice is excellent so I usually try to find a meal that includes the rice or I add it on to my order. I know several people who order "cheesy rice" and its just a side of rice with the awesome cheese sauce poured over it. That is pretty tasty too. For dinner I would recommend the Armandos Brothers Pizza or Fajitas! These are not usually good lunch items because you will usually have leftovers and since I go straight back to work, I never have anywhere to put my leftovers. The Armandos Bros Pizza has chicken, steak, and shrimp along with onions and peppers and other deliciousness all squeezed between two tortillas. Its like a slice of heaven. There are several of these "Real Ha's" around town and they are all wonderful. I personally like this one best because of the cleanliness and service.

So gross. Driving across the country, we stopped in Terre Haute looking for a decent place to eat and the best thing we found was Real Hacienda. We should have looked elsewhere because this place was not so great and left me feeling sick.... The chips and salsa were the best thing about the meal. The salsa was fresh and tasted homemade. Our entrees, however, consisted of pools of "cheese" sauce, liquified beans and more grease than I've ever seen on a plate. It was just collecting in pools around my enchilada. And the cheese-stuffed pepper was so not what I thought it was going to be. This place needs to start using real ingredients (ie. real cheese please!) because it's definitely not "authentic."

I should have known to wait to get further west on my road trip to eat Mexican food. This is your typical Midwest attempt at Mexican. Greasy and you'll have a stomach ache afterwards. But on the other hand, I don't think there are many choices in lovely Terre Haute.

This is my gold standard for Mexican food. Myself and my friends ate here every week during college. Service is decent, but the food is spectacular. The La Favorita (substitute rice for beans) is my favorite and a bargain at ~$8. Even the chips and salsa are noteworthy here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
